4 X 8 Hour Days (plus written questions to be completed at home prior to commencement of face-to face training) OR 5 x 8 hour days. 

Assessment day hours can vary due to a number of circumstances including but not limited to student numbers and experience levels, on the day of assessment.

All resources are supplied including learner guide, activity book, resource materials, assessment paperwork and administrative documentation.

GWPT Selection Criteria

:

To enrol in this course:

  • Candidates must have held a DG Licence (Licence to perform Dogging) for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Candidates must have held a crane licence (C6 or C1 or CT licence classes) for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience operating cranes as relevant to their licence class (other relevant work experiences will also be considered. Please talk to us before booking in.). 
  • Candidates must be atleast 18 years of age
  • Can use the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of high risk work and completion of the National assessment in English. 
  • Participants are required to have general good health and fitness and any pre-existing medical conditions that will affect the training must be disclosed prior to attending.
  • To obtain a Victorian Worksafe Licence, applicants must reside in Victoria or, if they reside elsewhere, have a valid reason for obtaining the licence in Victoria.

 

There are no pre-requisites or formal entry requirements noted within the training package for this unit of competency.

 

Course Description

:

Slewing mobile crane means a mobile crane incorporating a boom or jib that can be slewed, but does not include:

  • a front-end loader, or
  • a backhoe, or
  • an excavator, or
  • other earth moving equipment, when configured for crane operation.

A person performing this work is required to hold a slewing mobile crane with an MRC over 100 tonnes HRWL.

This unit requires a person operating a slewing mobile crane with an MRC over 100 tonnes to:

  • plan for the work/task
  • prepare for the work/task
  • perform work/task
  • pack up.

This course has both theory and practical components. 

Assessment is conducted using GWPT Activity Book (including a gap assessment) and Worksafe's approved National Assessment Instrument.  Under closed book assessment conditions, students will be required to complete a:

  • Written test with 124 questions, 118 answered correctly (95%)
  • Calculations test with 14 questions, all answered correctly (100%).  
  • Practical assessment

Outcome

:

At the successful completion of this course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency, and an email from WorkSafe Victoria containing a link to access a Notice of Assessment (which acts as a temporary licence for 60 days from the original assessment day).  Participants are required to lodge their Notice of Assessment on the My WorkSafe Portal or at Australia Post and pay the WorkSafe Licence fee within the 60 days from the original assessment day to obtain the actual Licence from WorkSafe.
