11249NAT - Course in Licensing for Non-Slewing Telehandler Operations with a Rated Capacity Over 3 Tonnes. This accredited course includes the unit of competency:

NAT11249001 - Licence to operate a non-slewing telehandler (with a rated capacity greater than 3 tonnes)

 

Competence in this unit does not allow for driving a telehandler on a main or public road. In order to drive on a main or public road, an appropriate vehicle licence, issued by a transport regulator, is required.


Competence in this unit does not allow for the use of a telehandler fitted with a work platform where another High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) is applicable.

 

Duration

:

3 X 8 Hour Days + 6 hours of at home reading & writing (i.e. written questions/an activity book to be completed at home prior to commencement of face-to face training + 1.5 days (approx. 12 hours) of face-to-face training, followed by 1.5 days of assessment)

Training and assessment day hours can vary due to a number of circumstances including but not limited to student numbers and experience levels.

Go Workplace Training sites - Dandenong South and Clayton.

Go Workplace Training also offers this  course onsite (external worksites).

PPE Requirements

:

Wear closed toed shoes and appropriate work clothing, e.g. long pants.  PPE: High visibility vests. We can provide high visibility vests, hard hats and all other required PPE if required. All PPE will be provided at Go Workplace Training facilities, and provided by the worksite for on-site training (this will be discussed at time of booking).

Equipment Required

:

When the course is conducted at a Go Workplace Training facility, all equipment is supplied.  For on-site training, the equipment that must be available for training and assessment is discussed at the time of booking.

Resources Required

:

Go Workplace Training will provide all other materials including Learner Guide, activity book, calculation handout, reference materials, assessment paperwork and administrative documentation.

GWPT Selection Criteria

:

There are no entry requirements for this course (as per the accredited course requirements).

To enrol in this course:

Candidates must be atleast 18 years of age

Can use the English language at a level that enables the safe performance of high risk work and completion of the National assessment in English. We recommend that all participants complete a Learning, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment at the time of booking, and to discuss any specific learning needs at this time. If the LLN test is not returned during the period outlined in the Confirmation Email, and the participant is assessed during the course as not meeting the LLN requirements of the course, the full course fee remains payable.

Participants are required to have general good health and fitness and any pre-existing medical conditions that will affect the training must be disclosed prior to attending.

To obtain a Victorian Worksafe Licence, applicants must reside in Victoria or, if they reside elsewhere, have a valid reason for obtaining the licence in Victoria.

 

Course Description

:

Participants will develop the skills and knowledge required to plan for operations and operate a non-slewing telehandler with a rated capacity over 3 tonnes, including the use of attachments, safe driving and completion of telehandler operations. It also develops the skills and knowledge required to operate a non-slewing telehandler with fixed and freely suspended loads.

This course has both theory and practical components. 

Assessment is conducted using GWPT Activity Book (including a gap assessment) and WorkSafe's approved National Assessment Instrument.  Under closed book assessment conditions, students will be required to complete a:

Written test with 74 questions, 70 answered correctly (95%)

Calculations test with 5 questions, all answered correctly (100%).  

Practical assessment

Outcome

:

Students who satisfactorily complete this Program will be issued a Statement of Attainment for the accredited course 11249NAT - Course in Licensing for Non-Slewing Telehandler Operations with a Rated Capacity Over 3 Tonnes including the unit of competency NAT11249001 - Licence to operate a non-slewing telehandler (with a rated capacity greater than 3 tonnes). Students will also receive an email from WorkSafe containing a link to access a Notice of Assessment (which acts as a temporary licence for 60 days from the original assessment day).  Participants are required to lodge their Notice of Assessment on the My WorkSafe Portal or at Australia Post and pay the WorkSafe Licence fee within the 60 days from the original assessment day to obtain the actual Licence from WorkSafe.
